A Brief History.....

Hyler Septic Service was started in 1988 by Ken Hyler, Jr. Ken being an entrepreneur was known to most as a hard working man. Some have said he could easily do the work of three(3) men. He opened the business to support his family of four. Himself, His wife; Nancy, son; Ken, and daughter; Tracy. Ken operated the business on his own for quite a few years, until his son Kenneth, III was old enough to help out. His wife Nancy would help out a lot as needed, whether it be running errands for her husband, or coming to pull his out with their Pickup truck, the numerous times he got stuck land spreading in the fields. She also maintained a full time job along with being an active housewife, caring for the children. Over the years he began teaching Ken,III all aspects of the business; pumping, portable toilet bidding, drain and sewer cleaning, and water jetting. Both men, being aggressive entrepreneurs worked to create a good size, profitable business that they were comfortable with, offering good service to local people, for reasonable rates.

In early 2005 however Ken, Jr. at age 50 suffered a heart attack while working on a residential drain cleaning job. The business itself was split between the two siblings who came together despite the sudden passing of their father at such a young age. The two children along with their mother Nancy, worked hard the following two years in 2005 and 2006  trying to maintain and operate a business that they were not expecting or ready to take over. Tracy chose to drop out of her college courses she was currently enrolled in to help her brother with the accounting aspect of the business. Ken, III however he had already started buying into the business, was still learning all the aspects of the operation from his father. The siblings came together along with their mother to manage the growing business.

In 2006 and 2007, Work load at HSS was almost doubled. the business grew more in two years then it had in the previous 5 years of operation. The business went from 2 employees and two family members, to a team of 3 Hylers, and 7 employees.  Tracy is currently finishing up her college requirements in the field of Nursing. Nancy still remains in the office answering phones, and scheduling work. Ken, III plans on maintaining the business, which currently services 7 Counties, operating 6 six septic trucks, two portable toilet service trucks, almost 300 portable toilets and many other miscellaneous service vehicles.

The business still operates to this day under the same principles that their father had worked so hard to achieve. "good, reliable service, at reasonable rates."

ARTICLE DETAILS:

Berlin Journal/Omro Herald (July 30, 1998)
Business has been booming for Ken Hyler, Jr. Owner of Hyler Septic Service lately, but unlike most business people, he is emphatic about giving the credit to someone else.
Hyler a Man of great faith feels that God is behind every inch of his success.  Hyler Septic celebrated its 10th Anniversary this April, and the business is definitely on the upswing. Ken has recently added two huge trucks to his fleet, and will soon be getting a pickup truck mounted vacuum tank for convenient use for his portable toilets.

Ken does work mainly in the Berlin and Omro areas, but his business is also growing in Green Lake and Ripon. He does portable toilet rentals, drain and sewer cleaning, and septic and holding tank pumping in addition to a number of other services.

Ken and his wife of 20 years Nancy have two children, Ken(19) and Tracy(14). Hyler wants to slowly teach his son the business and in the process, phase himself out of it. He wants to eventually cut his involvement to  2 or 3 hours per day so he can someday attend Bible College.

Congratulations to Hyler Septic on Ten Successful Years!
